During laser therapy treatment, the infrared laser light interacts with tissues at the cellular level and metabolic activity increases within the cell, improving the transport of nutrients across the cell membrane. This leads to a cascade of beneficial and therapeutic effects, including: increased cellular function and health, rapid regeneration, normalization and healing of damaged cellular tissue, pain reduction, decreased swelling, increased circulation, and improved healing times.
Photonic stimulation is the trigger for these metabolic changes. In simpler terms, the laser brings light to living tissues. During each painless treatment, laser energy increases circulation. This draws in water, oxygen, and nutrients to the damaged area creating an optimal healing environment that reduces inflammation, swelling, muscle spasms, stiffness and pain.
What conditions is it for?
Laser therapy is a non-invasive scientifically based treatment modality. It is safe and effective in treating a wide array of clinical conditions. The class IV laser is a new generation of laser providing deeper penetration, decreased treatment time and enhanced physiological response. Many have found relief from plantar fasciitis, arthritic joints, low back pain, neck pain, TMJ etc...
What results can I expect?
With any therapy, results can vary depending on the length of time you have had your complaint, on your age, etc... Generally most patients will start to see results in 6-10 treatments. Laser therapy is cumulative therefore it is important to follow through with your specifically designed treatment program.
Does it hurt?
No. During treatment clients frequently experience a warming sensation of the involved tissue. Very occasionally over boney areas a temporary more intense heating may occur. Following treatment an increase in symptoms may occur. This temporary increase in symptoms is not a negative response to treatment and does not impact the overall outcome in clinical cases. Laser therapy treatments are performed by certified Laser Technicians of 8th Street Laser Therapy. Treatment is done on bare skin; so in some instances gowning and/or draping (similar to a massage therapy treatment) may be required.
How long does it take?
An initial consultation with treatment generally takes about ½ hour of your time. This will vary depending on consultation results discussed by the doctor with you. Subsequent treatment can vary from a few minutes to 15-20 minutes.
How much does it cost?
The initial fee for laser therapy is $60.00. This includes a consultation and examination and first laser treatment. Subsequent treatments vary as the fee for laser therapy is based on the number of minutes of applied treatment. We prefer a 24 hour cancellation notice. There is a $25.00 fee for cancellations made within 4 hours of scheduled appointment time.
